Scottish regional forum ‘an incredible day’

The second Simple Telehealth Regional Network Event took place on 11th November 2015 at Stirling University sponsored by the Scottish Government with delegates attending from all over Scotland.
The event was aimed at the development of a solid regional advocate and member network to increase opportunities for innovation and best practice with Flo.  The day proved to be an overwhelming success with teams actively sharing thoughts, ideas, case studies plus practical examples of their current experiences with Flo. The day also generated an opportunity for genuine collaboration across organisations on new applications, and also agreement around the standardisation of metrics for patient reported outcome measures linking in with regional strategy.
Those new to Flo had an opportunity to learn more both from the nhssimple team and existing members of the community and delegates also benefited from news from around the community both within Scotland and also across the UK and USA.  Vibrant and welcoming conversation was the theme of the day with many informal networks being created in support of Flo’s further expansion and increasing innovative clinical practice.

“Thanks very much for a great Telehealth Event in Stirling on Wednesday. It was a great way for me to learn more about Flo and hear some great personal stories”
“It really has be an incredible day, heart warming to see everyone so happy to share and help each other for the benefit of patients, I look forward to the next one”“I was really pleased I managed to get along to the Networking day on Wednesday – it was well worth it.”
Delegates  also had the opportunity to hear from Iain Trayner, TEC WS1 Project Manager, NHS Western Isles, who as a new member of the community, passionately shared the story of a young lady with diabetes who over a 6 week period demonstrated a substantial reduction in her HbA1c.  Flo helped to improve her feeling of control and involvement in the management of her diabetes, resulting in a clinically significant and verifiable change for the better.

Following its official release on 6th November 2015, we also shared the short film commissioned by the Health Foundation as part of their “Power of People” series with a unique and moving perspective of Flo from the eyes of her patients http://www.health.org.uk/flo
Thanks to everyone who attended to make it such a interactive and productive day with special thanks to Morag Hearty, NHS Lanarkshire and Liz Allen, NHS England who shared so passionately their experiences and patient stories.
The event was such a success it’s now set for a bi-annual schedule.
